Morning started as usual with Daddy waking up first and pushing kids to wake up and open their sleepy eyes. Animals and kids had to be fed, the van and trailer had to be loaded with the remaining items needed for show, goats needed to be loaded also of course, and we can't forget the coffee to get us through the long day.

Daddy took care of all the farming chores that morning while the kids moved at the pace of turtle that seemed to have lost its feet and couldn't move, then we headed out the door leaving in the direction of Croswell.

If you're not familiar with Croswell, its a nice little town in Michigan within the county of Sanilac just minutes west of Lake Huron. The city of Croswell has a wonderful park with a great splash-pad for kids to play in the water during the summer, Black River passes through the the city, there are kayak rentals, and fishing too. Someone also even tied a rope to one of the taller over-hanging trees in the park next to the river so you can swing from the hill into the water.

After getting to the Croswell Fairgrounds we one at a time took goats out and washed them, cleaned their hooves up, and prepped them for their showmanship and dairy class groups.

Our oldest won a trophy in her showmanship class group, came in as Reserve Champion with her milking doe, and finished within the top four among several other class groups. Our younger daughter finished 1st in her age group for showmanship and with her dairy buckling, and 3rd place with her Sr. Doeling. And Daddy won first place in the adult class!! The kids had a fantastic time and enjoyed showing off some of the animals that they love with their friends and leaders that have mentored them in their learning. If you're interested in showing goats or a different animal and learning more about the breed characteristics check out your local 4-H group for more information to get you in touch with groups leaders and those with the love of putting their head, heart, hands, and health in it to serve the kids in teaching them how to be leaders themselves by making the best better as together we lead tomorrow.
